Types of technical data available

Table of Contents

Most of the time – less is more. But with our technical data that certainly isn’t the case.

Virtual Garage Manager’s technical data offers a wealth of diagrams and information. Below I’ll go through what each of the different subjects mean.

Vehicle adjustment data includes various measurements for all parts of the vehicle. Examples of the type of data include:

  • Brake disc diameters
  • Brake disc thickness
  • Tyre sizes
  • Tyre pressures
  • Thermostat opening temperature
  • Oil temperature
  • Fuel pump pressure
  • Engine idle speed

The maintenance section offers information related to the maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle. Examples of the type of data here includes:

  • How often the oil filter should be changed
  • How to disconnect / reconnect the battery
  • How to reprogram the key
  • How to reset the service indicator
  • When to change brake fluid
  • When to change the timing belt

This section will give you your available options for different types of lubricants that can be used throughout the vehicle. For example:

  • What brake fluid to use
  • What gear oil to use
  • What power steering fluid to use
  • What air conditioning refrigerant to use

Visually, the drawings are probably one of the most interesting areas of the technical data. You get access to a range of diagrams that show you how certain components fit together. This includes:

  • Exploded views of the brakes and how all the parts fit together
  • Exploded diagrams of the suspension
  • Images showing how to remove the dashboard
  • Images showing how to remove the central console

EOBD locations

EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) is a fairly small section that will offer diagrams to show you where you can access the EOBD diagnostic socket.

Fuse locations

Show you where all the different fuses are located within the vehicle.

A comprehensive list of circuit diagrams and descriptions of engine related components. Here, you’ll be able to access wiring diagrams for nearly all electronic components related to the engine. For example:

  • Speedometer circuit diagram
  • ABS control unit
  • Wheel speed sensors
  • Automatic transmission

Procedure based section that will often show you step-by-step processes, such as installing and removing components. Examples include:

  • Clutch removal diagrams
  • Battery disconnection and reconnection
  • Airbag removal & installation
  • Cylinder head removal and installation
  • Service indicator reset
  • Timing belt installation procedure

Wiring diagrams

A comprehensive set of general wiring diagrams including:

  • Door locks
  • Supplemental restraints / Airbags
  • Air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • Headlights

Repair times

There is a huge amount of data throughout the repair times section, with repair times for a wide range of repair work, including:

  • Remove & refit front bumper
  • Remove & refit clutch
  • Balance both wheels
  • Clean fuel filter
  • Remove & refit crankshaft sensor

VESA advanced data

The VESA advanced data is very different to the rest of the data offered. When you load up the data for your vehicle you are presented with a fully interactive interface where you can view step by step guides and browse interactive images.

Some of it’s uses include:

  • Fault code diagnosis
Enter in multiple fault codes for a comprehensive list of results.
  • VESA locations
Get a full list of all the VESA locations (e.g. Relay box in luggage compartment).
  • Components
View a selection of components along with step-by-step guides.

Note: VESA advanced data is not available for all vehicles.

These outline various issues that the vehicle may have and present them to you in a ‘Symptom – Cause – Solution’ format. For example:

  • EGR Malfunction
  • ESP Warning light flashes
  • Engine warning light illuminates

The recalls section will list any potential recalls that have been issued by the manufacturer.

Service checklists

The service checklists allow you to get access to manufacturer service checklists. From here you can build up a printable checklist with mandatory tasks and also add optional tasks.
